About Us
OCD Building & Remodeling was, and is today, the realization of young boys fascination with houses. When I, Alex, was just a young little dude I grew a love for discovering the hidden spaces in our house. My father, best guy I know, was the kind of man who could sit down and read an entire book about a thing. Then he would do it. This was all pre YouTube, and social media of course. I’d see him sitting in the living room with a book about “How to do drywall,” or “How to Install Tile.” The man was a genius, and he still is today. He worked on everything from bathrooms, to the kitchen, to basements, flooring, roofing, and everything in between. I’m pretty sure there was always a project or two going on in the house I grew up in.
Fast forward to my early 20’s, and you meet the Alex who started working for other self employed guys. There was a major fascination with business, working for myself, being my own boss, and doing things I enjoyed. That led me to working in home audio, and home video, at an Amish furniture store, at an auto upholstery shop, and far too many other places. I started to learn business. Many a night was spent sitting in bed reading a book on business.
A little while after this I started building custom furniture out of Dad’s garage with his tools. Just to try my hand at the craft. I made all kinds of stuff, from benches, to pub tables, wooden and metal American flags with hidden shelves, and tons more. The piece I crafted with borrowed tools started to sell! Yes! I was actually making some money doing something I enjoyed. Can’t beat that!

A family friend, Cesar, who owned, and still does own, a construction and remodeling company hit me up on Facebook. I remember him telling me my work looked good, and then asking me “Do you want to learn how to build houses?” I’ll never forget that day. I was amped! I, of course, accepted his offer, and went to work with him as an apprentice. Over the next years I worked for all kinds of builders. I did everything from brand new residential construction, to small flooring jobs, dedicated trim carpentry, bathroom tile, kitchens, basements, and even some commercial work. Getting my hands dirty in just about every possible construction situation known to man made for some really great experiences.
In 2017 I went out on my own for the first time doing small projects for people, and getting my feet wet as a business owner. The process ever since has had its ups and downs, like with any good business. We’ve made our way up to 12 guys, and been as little as just myself. Over the years I’ve learned how intimate my job can be, being in someone else’s home. I’ve seen how important trust is, the value of communication, and the power of a simple transparency. OCD aims to embody those qualities with every client we work with. We shoot straight, talk plainly, keep it simple, and work to create projects that last.
I’m very proud of what’s been built thus far. Can’t wait to see what else we can do.
